The Chief Executive Officer of Lumos Laboratories Nigeria Limited, Ejikeme Patrick Nwosu, was awarded another invention patent right by the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the production of urine-based fertilizer.
The certificate of registration of utility model patents with number NG/P/2022/149 was dated November 23rd 2022 and signed by registrar Stella Ozo Ezenduka for the patent and Design Acts.
WHY URINE?
Urine has some nutrients which the plants need for better growth and development, the same nutrients present in some conventional synthetic fertilisers. These nutrients include nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK).
IS THIS FERTILISER SAFE?
We developed an indigenous means of enriching common urine and boosting4 it for use as safe organic fertiliser for application to farms. We also developed means for ensuring that any pathogens in the urine are removed or destroyed before application to farms.
